Intimacy Choreography for a Braver Rehearsal Process (Principal Intimacy Professionals or PIP)

This 90-minute session will include a presentation and active on-your-feet exercises that you can incorporate in your classroom and rehearsals.

We will cover:

  • What is an intimacy professional, and how do they work with live-action and recorded performance
  • Offers to create a braver space (Community agreements, Power dynamics)
  • The 5 Pillars of Intimacy (Consent, Context, Choreography, Communication, Closure)
  • Boundary Practice and Daily Consent Check-ins
  • The ten intimacy movement ingredients
  • Selecting/adapting scripts for age appropriate content
  • Mental Health Support and sustainable self-care for teachers and students

    Megan Gilron

    Megan Gilron B.F.A., C.S.E (she | they)- Intimacy Director and Coordinator

    Megan is a certified Intimacy Coordinator for film and television (IMDb), currently working on film and television productions with Principal Intimacy Professionals in Western Canada and recently qualified for the SAG-AFTRA registry list for Intimacy Coordinators. She is a founding member and co-chair of The National Society of Intimacy Professionals, collaborating to develop an accreditation program for intimacy professionals. They are a certified comprehensive sexual health and sexuality educator of topics and representing communities in which they have been learning and teaching for 10+ years. She has trained under the infamous Betty Dodson and certified through several programs with Options for Sexual Health and often facilitates classes on Representations of Sex and Sexuality for Performance.

    Megan shares her gratitude to the peoples of the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the  xÊ·mÉ™θkwÉ™yÌ“É™m (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and selÌ“ílÌ“witulh (Tsleil-waututh) Nations.     Sam Jeffery

    Sam Jeffery (she/her) - Intimacy Coordinator and Director

    Sam is a certified intimacy director & coordinator, educator, actor, and award-nominated fight director who was born and raised in ᐊᒥᐢᑲᐧᒋᐋᐧᐢᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ amiskwaciwâskahikan (Edmonton, Canada) on Treaty 6 territory.

    With a special interest in mental and sexual health, she is passionate about bringing joy and a trauma-informed approach that meets folks wherever they are - celebrating how honouring our needs leads to exciting & creative artistic choices. Sam has been honoured to work with students and universities across Canada, from coast to coast. She is grateful to be able to grow and apply her practice across Turtle Island alongside so many other wonderful people.

    Phay Moores

    Phay Moores (she | they) – Intimacy Director

    An exuberant perspective with equal parts of find-the-fun and find-your feet, Phay (she/they) is an intimacy director/coordinator, writer, and professional actor who currently lives on the stolen traditional territory of the kÊ·ikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlim) Nation. Their specialities include Indigenous content, YA romance, domestic violence/sexual assault, comedy, queer intimacy, and  devised work + improv.

    Apart from being a co-chair of National Society of Intimacy Professionals, Phay has supported productions all over the Lower Mainland as an intimacy professional in film, television, and theatre with Principal Intimacy Professionals. Past credits include Revolt. She Said. Revolt Again. (UBC), Superman & Lois s2 (Warner Bros), Bunny (Search Party Productions), The Girl Next Door (Painted Fern Productions), and the 2021 Leo Award Winner FREYA.
